Music to my ears…

Most of the day I’ve had my nose in a new book, Free Lunch: How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at Government Expense (And Stick You with the Bill) by David Cay Johnston. He arms us chapter and verse with how our economy is rigged–all, infuriatingly, under the banner of “free market” orthodoxy. So as Barack Obama’s star rises, I ask myself, if he is the Democratic candidate, how can supporters encourage him to spell out the real depth of the crisis of our democracy and solutions that cut deeply enough to address it? Johnston’s book defines a piece of the crisis brilliantly. I wrote Getting a Grip, though, because I’ve lost patience with those like Johnston who tell us what’s wrong, however astutely, put offer us no real solutions. So, if you read Getting a Grip, please respond to the direction it offers and give readers of this page your best ideas for helping Americans see the solutions right in front of our noses.
Now to the real music. I’ve just learned that 3 profs at the Berklee School of Music are using my new book with their students and the school has arranged a contest: Students will be asked to compose songs inspired by Getting a Grip! So then I’ll their original music to open my future speaking events. How cool is that? Music to get a grip by!

With the existence of the State it is impossible to reform society. The State is that distorting organization at the centre of society with its fingers in every pie and attempting to gain total power over individuals in everyway. The State is controlled by a ruling class which only thinks of itself..the individuals within this class only have an incentive to further their own narrow goals not everyone elses. They are idle and want other to work for them and to maintain their fortunes. We need to remove the State. Money lending at Interest is a crime, fractional reserve banking and income tax as perpetrated by the Federal Reserve and the US State are criminal ‘State Control’ and Communism. I was always taught that Communism would work if it was a global system, it sounds as if the ruling classes want this with them as the sole power at the top of the global communist system (mis-labelled capitalist).
